Summary
Earth is getting warmer. People still do not think that human activity has anything to do with it, time for the rest of us to face reality. We need leadership and the United States should provide it, as it has repeatedly promised but failed to do. They need to join those other nations that have promised to reduce their greenhouse-gas emissions. Florida should be a leader among the states, because it is the most threatened with ecological problems and rising sea levels. While the flooding and saltwater intrusion now seen in South Florida occur regularly, far more devastating effects are happening in other parts of the world. According to a 20 developing countries, failure to act will result in 100 million deaths worldwide by 2030 from droughts, floods, disease, crop failure and major water shortages.
Reaction
After reading this article, I think that the United States should not take a stand immediately on the situation. We can progressively work on this problem, but it is something that cannot be accomplished overnight. The writer of this article thinks that we can make immediate changes, but immediate changes would be catastrophic to the U.S. economy and millions of people would lose their jobs because of the switch to clean energy. However, this problem needs to be addressed because failure to act will result in millions of deaths worldwide by 2030 due to things that could easily be fixed overtime.
Summary
Global warming will benefit most Arctic species, a team of scientists reported. According to the scientists, global warming would actually allow most Arctic species to expand their ranges, and no species are going to be extinct. These findings deliver a revolution to global warming activists arguing that Arctic warming justifies costly, government imposed restrictions. After the effects of global warming in European high latitudes, however, the scientists reported that global warming activists are entirely wrong about the impact of global warming on Arctic and subarctic species. Global warming is likely to benefit most Arctic and subarctic species. Most species will expand their ranges as the climate warms.
Reaction
After reading this article, my opinion is that many activists have been overreacting to the climate change of the Arctic and that this article proves to them that it actually improves biodiversity rather than decreases it. Also it is noted that any animal is now not expected to become extinct due to climate change, but rather they will adapt and thrive as a species and expand their limits of where they can live.
